We would like to give a huge thanks to Travelers for their support of our work in the Twin Cities. On July 21st, they held the Sixth Annual Travelers LDP Charity Golf Scramble at the Dellwood Hills Golf Club, which completely sold out a week before the event! Travelers raised more than $32,000 that will enable us to help more homeowners in need. This would not be possible without the hard work of the LDP planning committee and the continued support of the Travelers community. Thank you again to Travelers, the LDP planning committee and everyone who participated in this event!
Moving On: AmeriCorps Term of Service Ends
Rebuilding Together Twin Cities was incredibly fortunate to Alina Stevenson and Jessie Livingston serve as AmeriCorps Project Coordinators with us over the last year. Their terms of service ended this month, and we would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication.
Alina was offered a substantial scholarship to attend law school at the University of Oregon where she will begin her studies this fall. Jessie plans to stay in the Twin Cities to attend Augsburg College.
Alina wrote of her term of service, “As I step out of my AmeriCorps years and into my future law career I cannot imagine starting this career without the experience that I have received through AmeriCorps. The hard work, dedication to a cause, communication, leadership, and service skills I have learned are unmatched by anything else I could have done between college and law school. I am very excited to take these lessons into my future to allow me to be the best attorney I can possibly be. I look back at myself two years ago graduating from college. I am a completely different person; I have grown so much from the experiences that AmeriCorps has afforded me. Some of them amazing, some of them harder than I could have imagined, all of them have created the person I am today.”
Thank you to Alina and Jessie for your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm over the last year. Best of luck with this next chapter of your lives!
Thanks to Fredrikson & Byron!
On July 15th and 16th, we partnered with more than 20 volunteers from Fredrikson & Byron on three projects. On the first day, volunteers helped paint the exterior of two homes for homeowners in need in Minneapolis and also did some landscaping at one of the homes. On the second day volunteers gutted the first floor and basement of an REO home located in Columbia Heights. After this home is renovated, it will be made available for purchase to individuals and families who earn less than 120% of the area median income. Proceeds from the sale of this home will be invested back into our programs, so we can help preserve affordable homeownership for more homeowners in our community.
Thank you to everyone from Fredrikson & Byron who volunteered to help on these projects!
GLS Helps Mary and Charles in St. Paul
We were thrilled to partner with the awesome volunteers from GLS Companies on June 28th to help Mary in St. Paul! Together, we were able to sheet rock the basement bedroom, repair a landing, repair the sub-floor in kitchen, tear out the kitchen and begin installing a new kitchen, landscape, and paint the garage.
GLS Companies is a full service printer with operations in St. Paul and Brooklyn Park. Their amazing volunteer teams have been working with us for the last four years. We are proud to have partners like GLS Companies. Thank you to everyone from GLS who volunteered with us to help Mary and Charles live in a safe and healthy home!
