United Healthcare Military & Veterans Help Former Marine and His Family

On August 11th, we partnered with 60 volunteers from United Healthcare Military & Veterans to provide much-needed repairs for Jason, a former Marine and Active Minnesota National Guard Member, and his family in Oak Park Heights.  Volunteers spent the day rebuilding portions of a deck, repairing and painting the garage, removing brush and mulch, cleaning siding, and repairing and painting the family’s barn.

With the support of JG Hause Construction and skilled volunteers, we also plan to replace six windows, fix other windows within the home and fix the sinking sidewalk at the front entrance.

United Healthcare Military and Veterans Helps Two Navy Veterans

On Tuesday, November 19th, we partnered with volunteers from United Healthcare Military and Veterans to repair the home of Jon and Eileen, two Navy veterans who live in St. Paul.  Eileen and Jon met when they were both stationed in Virginia attending training for operating nuclear powered Navy vessels. They are both living with disabilities that resulted from their time in the Navy.  Their home needed substantial repairs to make it safe and functional for their family.

United Healthcare Military and Veterans volunteers installed, taped and mudded drywall, reinstalled stairway handrails, laid a new walkway outside, helped them clean out their garage, and installed grab bars in the bathroom.  The generous grant from United Healthcare Military and Veterans also covered the cost of plumbing and carpentry repairs.

The repairs provided by United Healthcare Military and Veterans made a huge difference for Jon and Eileen.  In their thank you note, they wrote, “We truly appreciate your time and effort put forth to help and improve our quality of life.  A very sincere thank you from two grateful disabled Navy veterans.”
