Thanks to Lowe’s!

We would like to send a special thank you to Lowe’s for providing us with funding to build a ramp for a veteran in need! This grant was part of their annual Kickoff to Rebuild partnership with Rebuilding Together, Inc., and Lowe’s provided grants to affiliates located in the hometown of an NFL team, including Rebuilding Together Minnesota!

With the support provided by Lowe’s, we helped Richard and Aimee in the Nokomis neighborhood. Richard and Aimee both live with physical disabilities and needed a ramp to be able to remain in the home and community where they have lived for nearly 25 years. Our incredible Ramp Team constructed a ramp at their home, and Aimee said, “Bless you all. Dick can now get me in and out of the house by himself. I can go to my doctor and the grocery store and visit and get out to play cards again.”

Thank you to Lowe’s and our Ramp Team!

Kickoff to Rebuild Was a Huge Success!

Thank you to everyone who came together to make the 23rd Annual Kickoff to Rebuild a huge success!  Volunteers revitalized four homes and a community center in the Bryant neighborhood of Minneapolis.  Council Members Elizabeth Glidden and Andrea Jenkins attended our reception the night before Kickoff to Rebuild and Mayor Jacob Frey and former NFL wide receiver Ryan Hoag visited the project sites.

Thank you to our lead sponsor Lowe’s Home Improvement and our sponsors CBRE, Bryant Neighborhood Association, Crystal Kitchen + Bath, MidCountry Bank, Minnesota Housing, Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS, Pioneer Services, SPOKE612 Productions and Wells Fargo!

Kickoff to Rebuild Gets Underway!

We launched our Kickoff to Rebuild projects this month, in anticipation of SuperBowl LII! More than 120 volunteers from Lowe’s, CBRE, and the Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS made repairs for six low-income homeowners in the Tilsenbilt neighborhood in South Minneapolis and rehabilitated a community garden.  We also hosted a Resource Fair and Community Art Project at St. Peter’s AME Church in Minneapolis where the public was invited to decorate parts of peace poles that will later be placed in the community gardens.

Phase two of this incredible project will take place on February 2, 2018 as volunteers repair the interior of the homes.

Kathy and Tony Attend Kickoff to Rebuild in Houston

As you probably already know, Super Bowl 52 will be held at the U.S. Bank Stadium here in Minneapolis in 2018!  Each year, Rebuilding Together partners with the NFL in Super Bowl cities to repair homes and revitalize entire neighborhoods. Over the last 22 years, Rebuilding Together and the NFL have repaired nearly 140 homes and engaged 5,000 volunteers in Super Bowl cities across the country through Kickoff to Rebuild.  We are thrilled that the Super Bowl and Kickoff to Rebuild will be here in 2018!

In preparation for this event, Kathy Greiner and Tony Sjogren recently traveled to Houston where Rebuilding Together Houston was hosting the 2017 Super Bowl Kickoff to Rebuild. Kathy and Tony were able to work hand-in-hand with the Rebuilding Together’s national office and Rebuilding Together Houston to get a firsthand view of what Kickoff to Rebuild is all about. Our team is planning to put a Minnesota twist on this wonderful event next year that will further our mission to transform the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing our communities.

Kathy and Tony want to thank the Rebuilding Together Houston and the Rebuilding Together national team for inviting us down to Houston to experience an amazing event!
