The Mission Continues – Together with our many partners, we recently constructed a house that will be used by the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans to provide transitional housing for veteran families in crisis.  Volunteers from The Mission Continues helped us put some of the finishing touches on this house by installing a fence around the back yard.

Honeywell Retired Volunteer Program Ramp Team – Our Ramp Team recently helped someone who could not come home from the hospital until a ramp was built at his home.  Our volunteers jumped in to build a ramp so this homeowner could come home in time for Thanksgiving. Our Ramp Team is made up of retired Honeywell employees, and in the past five years, they have built more than 40 ramps, restoring independence to the homeowners they have helped.

Minnesota Housing Finance Agency Awards Grant to Repair 20 Homes

We were recently awarded a grant from Minnesota Housing that will help us rehabilitate 20 owner-occupied homes in North Minneapolis, South Minneapolis and Saint Paul’s East Side. Thanks to Minnesota Housing for their continued support of our efforts to preserve affordable homeownership by providing critical repairs for low-income homeowners in our community.

Patty Solecki Receives CapacityCorps Legacy of Service Award

We were thrilled to celebrate the contributions of our one of our own earlier this month at Rebuilding Together’s National Conference. Patty Solecki, who served two terms as an AmeriCorps CapacityCorps member with us from 2007-2009, was awarded the first Rebuilding Together CapacityCorps Legacy of Service Award! The award honors a CapacityCorps alum who exemplifies the spirit of AmeriCorps and a life-long commitment to serving their community.

We could not be prouder of Patty and all that she has accomplished. Since completing her terms of service, Patty has continued to give back – attending countless rebuilding projects, including every Building a Healthy Neighborhood event, MLK work weeks and other projects, and making an impact in at least a dozen communities. Congratulations Patty!
