Old National Bank Donates $10,000
Old National Bank recently donated $10,000 to support our efforts to provide home accessibility modifications for low-income seniors and individuals living with a disability.
Three times a year, the Old National Bank Foundation presents grants to organizations throughout its footprint that fit the following strategic initiatives: affordable housing, early education, economic development, financial literacy and workforce development. This is the Minnesota market’s first time participating in Old National Bank Foundation’s grant program.
“We are thrilled to play a role in contributing to RTTC’s vital mission,” said Old National Bank commercial relationship manager Erin Steckler. “As I continue to work with this organization, I’ve witnessed the connection between healthy homes and quality of life. RTTC works tirelessly to improve the lives of low-income homeowners by providing free-of-cost critical home repairs.”
This funding will support our Safe at Home program, which helps homeowners with modifications to their homes to accommodate individuals with mobility issues due to a disability.
We are excited about this new partnership and appreciate the support of Old National Bank!
Lowe’s Supports Critical Repairs for a Family in Need
We recently received a grant from Lowe’s, which we used to provide accessibility modifications and critical repairs for a low-income family in South Minneapolis. The homeowner had suffered a traumatic fall and ended up with a broken neck, broken arm, and many contusions. He spent quite some time recovering in the hospital/rehabilitation facility, but could not come home until the home was modified to make it accessible. Specifically, he needed an exterior ramp and modifications made to the bathroom. With the support provided by Lowe’s and the hard work of our volunteers, we were able to build the ramp and modify the interior of the home so the homeowner can return home and live safely and independently in his own home and neighborhood.
American Legion Volunteers at 7th Neighborhood Garden
On August 24th, we partnered with Legionnaires and American Legion Auxiliary members, who volunteered their time to build raised bed gardens, a storage garden shed and a compost bin at the 7th Neighborhood Garden in St. Paul.
The 7th Neighborhood Garden is in its second year of existence. It started as the Cambric Senior Apartment Garden, but the garden founder quickly realized that the garden was a good way to get not just Cambric members to socialize, but to provide the entire East 7th neighborhood with a place to come together and experience the outdoors and growing their own food.
This project provided an opportunity to showcase the power of ‘veterans helping communities’ as thousands of members of The American Legion arrived in the Twin Cities for the 100th National Convention of The American Legion held at the Minneapolis Convention Center from August 24th until August 29th.
