Wells Fargo Give Back

We would like to send a special thanks to Wells Fargo who provided another generous grant to us this year to help several families in need!

One of the people we helped is Nicole, who purchased the home she grew up in from her mom. Nicole’s mom still lives there, along with Nicole and her two daughters – three generations of women living under one roof! Nicole is a special education teacher. While she does an excellent job of maintaining her home, when she discovered that her main sewer line was about to burst, the repair was more than her salary could handle.

The grant from Wells Fargo allowed us to fix Nicole’s main sewer line. Nicole said “Thank you, this is a dream come true, I can hardly believe this is happening!”

The fixed sewer line means that Nicole, her mom, and her kids can continue to live in a safe, healthy, and affordable home. Thank you Wells Fargo!

Opus Group Ramp Team Volunteers to Help Kids in Need Foundation

We would like to thank and recognize members of The Opus Group Ramp Team, who installed a partition wall and built barn doors for the Kids in Need Foundation’s Customer Service Area/Store in Roseville. The Kids in Need Foundation is a nonprofit that provides school supplies and materials to kids throughout the country, as well as teachers that serve in schools in low income/disadvantaged areas.

Special thanks to Craig Larson and Marco Alfaro from our Opus Ramp Team for taking on this project and doing an amazing job!

Homeowner Features our Organization in YMCA North ForeverWell Newsletter

A homeowner featured our organization in the YMCA North Blaisdell ForeverWell Newsletter, encouraging other older adults to apply for assistance with aging-in-place modifications.  The homeowner, Kathleen, said in the article “My personal experience with Rebuilding Together about four years ago involved installing grab bars in the main floor bathtub and the basement step-in shower, as well as reinforcing handrails for steps leading to the second floor bedrooms and the basement. This service was invaluable to me, as it facilitated my ability to stay in my 100+ year old house many more years.”

Thank you to Kathleen and the YMCA for helping to spread the word about how we are helping older adults age-in-place!

AmeriCorps Members Attend LEAD Conference in Denver

We are currently hosting three AmeriCorps members – Julia and Emily in the Twin Cities Metro and Sharlett in Southwest Minnesota. The three AmeriCorps members recently attended the AmeriCorps LEAD Conference in Denver. The purpose of the LEAD Conference was to bring together AmeriCorps members from across the nation to “learn, engage, accelerate and develop” with one another.

During their time in Denver, Emily, Julia, and Sharlett were able to connect with AmeriCorps members serving with Rebuilding Together affiliates from across the country. They also participated in several informational sessions and leadership development programs and were able to explore Colorado by hiking in Colorado Springs and going to a Rockies game!

We are very grateful for the hard work and dedication of our AmeriCorps members and we loved seeing the photos from their Denver adventures!
