MidCountry Bank Helps Eva

On May 22nd, more than 20 volunteers from MidCountry Bank partnered with us to help Eva in St. Paul.  Kyle Swatfager, the AmeriCorps member who worked with the volunteer team that day, said “The MidCountry Bank volunteers successfully installed seven windows, installed new flooring in Eva’s kitchen, drylocked her basement to prevent future erosion and mold growth, and completely changed the visual appearance of the home by replanting and mulching multiple garden beds. I enjoyed the group’s willingness to assist one another and Rebuilding Together staff to ensure maximum productivity for Eva. We can’t wait to partner with MidCountry Bank again!”

This is the ninth consecutive year that we’ve partnered with MidCountry Bank to help families in need in the Twin Cities.  Thank you to MidCountry for their support and thanks to the volunteers who came out to help Eva!

MidCountry Bank Helps Rose in St. Paul

More than 30 volunteers from MidCountry Bank joined us on May 22nd to help Rose in St. Paul.  Volunteers tore out old, hollow concrete steps and replaced them with wooden ones; regraded her foundation; installed handrails on the steps to her front door; and installed several rain barrels. The homeowner, Rose, cares for her adult son, who lives with a disability.  She also provides housing for another young man with learning disabilities and mental health issues.

This is the eighth consecutive year that we’ve partnered with MidCountry Bank to help families in need in the Twin Cities.  Thank you to MidCountry for their support and the volunteers who came out to help Rose for your hard work and dedication!

National Rebuilding Day Was a Huge Success!

Thanks again to the hundreds of volunteers who braved the rain to help 25 families in need on April 28th for National Rebuilding Day!  Thanks to your efforts, we were able to help homeowners like Erin, a proud owner of her Camden Neighborhood home.  Erin’s grandson recently began living with her, and because of the expense of taking care of him, she is not able to afford repairs to her home.  In her thank you note to the volunteers who worked with her, Erin wrote, “Thank you for allowing my house to become more of a home.”

We would also like to thank U.S. Senator Al Franken, who came out to meet volunteers and one of the homeowners we helped that day, as well as MN Housing Commissioner Mary Tingerthal, State Senator Linda Higgins, State Representative Bobby Joe Champion, Minneapolis City Council Member Don Samuels, and Rebecca Lucero from Congressman Keith Ellison’s office.

Finally, we would like to thank our sponsors and partners for National Rebuilding Day, including Wells Fargo, Builders Association of the Twin Cities Foundation, Honeywell, MidCountry Bank, US Bank, On Site Sanitation, Valspar, Catholic United Financial, Lowe’s, Caribou Coffee, Subway, CitiCargo & Storage, Target, The Big Day of Serving, Dunwoody College of Technology, Tree Trust, Mortenson Construction, Ironwood Carpentry, Neighborhood Improvement Program, American Public Media, Coca-Cola, Cookie Cart, Webster/Windsor Insulation and ABC Supply Company.
